"For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord’s death until he comes again."

1 Corinthians 11:26

HOW IT STARTED

In 2022, Eddie & I were just dating a few months when a sweet little lady from church invited us over to her house. She cooked an amazing dinner and insisted we watch a 3+ hour recorded television broadcast (from the 90's, or so it seemed) featuring evangelist Perry Stone. The show was called, "The Meal That Heals."

This was when we first learned about communion; it's power, significance and the scriptures to back it up.

Following the show, we put what we learned into practice and had the greatest moment of repentance we had ever experienced, right there in her living-room. We poured our hearts out to the Lord and one another. There were confessions, tears and a palpable spiritual cleansing that took place that night.

This was a profound turning point in our lives. We began a daily habit of partaking in communion with one another. Confessing our sins, apologizing for our worldly behaviors and sharing our deepest thoughts - the good, the bad and the ugly. We were baby Christians then, not even six months in with decades of mistakes, bad habits and unfavorable consequences not too far in our rear-view mirrors. Both of us were a mess! It took courage, honesty and humility, not only to share our deepest, darkest secrets, but also to be on the receiving end; to just listen without casting judgement.

The Lord was working on us both immensely and we were committed to the sanctification process.

I packed grape juice and crackers everywhere we went. Something beautiful was emerging from this daily practice. A bond was forming we never would have imagined possible from two broken, unclean, divorced sinners who lost everything. We learned what trust looked like, experienced a purity we had never known and the felt the mighty presence of the Holy Spirit at work turning our ashes into beauty around every corner, restoring our souls and giving us hope that this time around, things were going to be different.  After only six months of dating we decided to get married.

Communion was the foundation of our unity and it's power in our lives was, and still is remarkable to this day. We wanted all of our friends & family of faith to be reminded of the power of communion.

And that's when we began telling everyone!  We started hosting Saturday morning Zoom meetings called “Coffee & Communion with the Urban’s."

Each time we met we’d have over a dozen folks gather together from all over the US for this virtual time of fellowship & encouragement. We shared biblical lessons, opened up the floor for testimonies and always made time to pray for those on the line who needed prayer. And most importantly, our time was never complete until we shared in the Lord’s supper together.

Life happened and our virtual meetings took a back seat. But to this day, Eddie & I still partake in a regular habit of communion.

No matter what situation we are in, we invite the Lord to be at the center of it all. We give Him all of our junk, and in return we get peace, joy and victory.

And this is what is possible for you too! Let us help point you in the right direction!

WHY COFFEE & COMMUNION @ MEND

The Lord is calling us to reintroduce this special event that is so near and dear to our hearts. This time, we’ll be opening up the office to meet in person!  We'll provide the coffee, light refreshments and of course, the elements to partake in communion.

Our goal is to create an atmosphere that helps you encounter the presence of the Lord.

Communion is a simple, yet significant practice to grow as a Christian.

It's an opportunity to take a moment and honor what the Lord did on the cross for us.

We are reminded of the healing that is available for us TODAY because He already bore our sickness and diseases. We do not have to suffer.

Communion is the "meal that heals."

It's also an opportunity to leave your sins, your shame and your guilt at the cross so you can move forward and walk in VICTORY.

Join us for this sacred time to reflect, repent, remember and be REVIVED!

COME EXPECTING . . .

Do you need prayer? Are you hungry for something greater? Do you want a supernatural encounter? We are believing that the Lord will meet us here and that He has miracles in store for our community.

Come hungry! Bring a loved one. Tell your friends. Come expecting!!!
